Founded in 1945, located on Marlborough Street, in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood, The Newman School serves students from grades 7-12 from Boston, surrounding towns, and 40 countries. We offer the only comprehensive boarding program in the city. Our students participate in activities and sports, pursuing their passions in the “education city," and embrace Boston as their campus to engage in meaningful community service and countless activities. Students develop a global and community mindedness that enriches their ability to make an impact in the world. The warm and caring environment and small class sizes make Newman a place where students are seen and valued.

Join us for our next virtual open house on January 10, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 4:15 PM (EST). This event is open to families of all students from age three through grade 11.
GRADES 7 & 8
Newman fosters an intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being through a holistic curriculum.
We provide our middle school students the opportunities to develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need in order to manage their lives and take responsible actions in their future.
GRADES 9 & 10
These are years of intellectual growth and individual challenge. Newman encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world, preparing them for success in further study and in life.
Students enjoy completing one long term project, deciding what they want to learn, identifying what they need to know, and planning the process through completion.
GRADES 11 & 12
Cultivating global connections and independent thinking creates lifelong learners and global contributors.
Students in grades 11 and 12 can choose to take advantage of an International Baccalaureate Diploma Program.
